DESCRIPTION
The Corvus Defensio M1 housing rail provides a solid, continuous mounting solution for attaching optical and optronic aiming devices, open sights, laser markers and other accessories. In contrast to the original A3 rail, the housing rail is pulled very far back and extends almost to the case ejection window. This makes it easier to use optics with very short eye relief because they can be mounted closer to the eye. The rail has an interface on the shooter side for direct mounting of Trijicon ACOG rifle scopes. These can therefore be screwed on directly without intermediate assembly. This reduces the mounting height and, as a result, the “offset” of any piggyback red dot sights used on the rifle scope. In the area behind the tension slide, a QD sling swivel assembly is attached to the rail on the left and right. This allows carrying straps to be attached in an area that is more convenient for handling the weapon. This prevents the carrying strap from either hanging over the gas pressure device (and thus being destroyed sooner or later) or from getting caught on the tensioning slide when it needs to be used.
Characteristics:
- Long and continuous Picatinny rail for mounting various accessories (optics, optronics, magnification attachments, back-up sights, electronic attachments, lasers, etc.).
- The rear end of the rail extends almost to the case ejection window in order to be able to easily use optics with very short eye reliefs.
- Milled mounting groove for direct mounting of 3x and 4x Trijicon ACOG rifle scopes (or other parts with M16 carry handle interface). This results in a lower overall mounting height when using piggyback red dot sights (lower offset).
- Integrated holder for carrying straps (QD sling swivel, carabiner hook, or paracord).
- Maximum line of sight of approx. 24 cm when using open sights.
- Made from hard anodized 7075 aluminum.
- Length: 260mm
- Weight: 146g
Assembly:
- Separate the housing from the piston.
- Expand barrel.
- Heat the three screws with which the original Picatinny rail is mounted to the housing with a hot air gun from the side of the housing so that the screw adhesive loses its strength.
- Remove the original Picatinny rail.
- Put on the Corvus Defensio housing rail and screw it together. The original screws can still be used. However, it is recommended to prefer the included screws. All screws should be secured with screw glue!
